So much has happened this week! We began learning about patterns found in the night sky. We focused on the moon. Everyone took a pair of binoculars home so they can observe the night sky - when it isn't raining that is.
We got our reading centers up and running. Everyone is working so hard! If you come in our classroom, you will see students working on SeeSaw, reading books, writing about the pictures they drew, and working on spelling patterns and vowels with the teacher. I can't believe it is the 3rd week of school and everyone is engaged in their centers for 20 minutes each and I was able to teach all 4 reading groups each day! That is AMAZING!

Today was another great day! We reviewed numbers and adding 1 more. We also began learning about Vowel Town.
We read the book Chrysanthemum to help us learn about how words can hurt others. We crumpled a paper heart every time someone said something unkind to Chrysanthemum in the book. We then flattened it out every time someone was nice to Chrysanthemum. We learned that even though we flatten out the hearts, we can still see the wrinkles caused by hurtful words. We are trying to be mindful of the words we use when talking to our friends. Today was so much fun! We had a rock-paper-scissors challenge. We had so much fun playing multiple rounds until we found a winner. I forgot to take pictures because I was playing along too.
We also learned about our feelings and how it is okay to feel worried about new things. We read the book Wemberly Worried and wrote about something we worry about. |
